The Calendar
The Order observes a liturgical year, divided into seasons, punctuated by feast days, and tempered by fasts.
The Season of Burn
January – March
Last year’s runway meets this year’s plan. A season of honest accounting and of re-commitment to the discipline of the burn. The Order’s most solemn season.
The Season of Building
April – September
The productive middle. A season of making, of shipping, of tending the fire.
The Season of Reckoning
October – December
A season of assessment, of closing what must be closed, and of determining — with honesty — who among the faithful is Default Alive and who is Default Dead. The Order’s year ends not with celebration but with examination.
XXVIII.VII.MMXXVIThe Feast of IncorporationThe date on which the Order itself was constituted. Marks the founding of the Order and the renewal of those who persist within it. A day on which new Aspirants are especially welcomed.
QuarterlyDemo DayThe day on which members advanced to Scryer or above are presented to the Order and announced by name. Observed with solemnity, not with festivity.
PersonalThe Vigil of DefaultThe day before one’s runway, by current reckoning, will expire. Observed privately. The Order encourages its members to know this date, to mark it, and to act before it arrives.
PersonalThe Feast of the Cap TableTriggered by a financing event or any material change to the proportions in which names are written. An occasion for gravity, not for celebration alone.
Before any major decisionThe Fast of Due DiligenceA personal period of restraint and examination — a raise, an acquisition, a pivot, a closure. Claims are examined, assumptions verified, and commitment withheld until the examination is complete.
Final week of ReckoningThe Abstinence of RhetoricA week of refraining from fundraising language, growth projections, and unsubstantiated optimism. A week of saying only what is known. The Order holds that this is more difficult than it sounds, and that the difficulty is the point.
The Feast of Incorporation, on the twenty-eighth of July, marks the day the Order itself was constituted. New Aspirants are especially welcomed on that day.
